Another project...

The Mr and I just moved into our own place. Right now its box-town and not quite ready to be shown to the world. But here is a picture of my floor. Its the original floor from the first owner who had it put in in 1984. Its a nice white and grey/beige terrazzo tile. Since this photo was taken 10 days ago we have had it polished and its nice and shiny and pretty. I'm tired from the moving and unpacking, but my mind is thinking of all the little projects that I want to do to make this place a nice comfortable home...but first I need to finish unpacking all those boxes...

It is so so so nice to sit at your own table in your own kitchen in your very own house.

The birds around here are nice too, some new types to share with you soon and some old friends fly past regularly. The Asian Koel sings all day and I heard night birds last night, but I don't know what they were... Once I unpack, I'll search my bird book to find out who it was.

Lighting Show

After a few late nights and an early morning, the mr. and I finished our lamp for the Unidentified Lighting Object submission. It turned out really well and a kind friend brought our lamp when it was auctioned off for charity. We hope someday to make some more for other friends and family. It makes a great childrens night-light with its warm glow and the multi-layer stories. You can watch the video of the interviews with the designers here. The photos above were taken by whiteunit who also took portraits of all the designers. The event was organised by a collective called When Lights Work. Their site has more images including this nice large one where you can see our lamp in more detail.

Knitted Skirt

I love my glittery knitting needles!

I decided to make a knitted skirt after seeing some nice ones around online. I couldn't find a nice pattern so I decided to make my own. I did some quick gauge-calculating, some flipping through my Reader's Digest stitch dictionary, counting stitches and measuring myself to come up with the design. I'm hoping that it will turn out to be a straight, slightly fitted skirt (but still suitably flippy), but since I'm a beginner knitter, its hard to tell! It will be a surprise when I sew the two halves together, hopefully a nice surprise!
